December 3, 2020

Balpara was engaged by Lendlease to provide full network auditing services for Stage 1 and 2 of the Mordialloc Freeway. This multifaceted electrical engineering project saw Balpara provide a wide range of our capabilities to the client.

Project Overview

The Mordialloc Freeway is a large multi-stage project designed to improve travel times and ease congestion in Melbourne’s south east, and includes bridges, ramps, cycling paths and intersections. Balpara was involved in Stage 1 and 2 of this project, which saw us conduct works around Springvale and Centre Dandenong Roads.

Balpara’s role involved both overhead and underground VEDN auditing, detailing of the electrical cables, asset relocation, asset inspection, overhead powerline design, powerline distribution design and detailing As-Built designs.

Project Scope

  • Detailing of overhead relocation works.
  • Overseeing correct building and electrical standards of all overhead powerlines.
  • Ensuring the installation of underground electrical cables and conduits were completed as per United Energy design standards.
  • GPS surveying to ensure accuracy throughout the project.
  • Auditing of site to ensure no obstructions from utilities or communication services.
  • Testing trenches for correct depth and size.
  • Detailing and As-Built drawings in line with applicable standards.

Value Add

Balpara was specifically chosen for this project due to our expertise in VEDN Auditing and our VEDN accreditation. Our team was able to provide a full network audit, including civil and electrical audits, pre-commissioning, cable hauling and a final audit. This streamlined the process for the client, who had no need to hire an additional utility service, saving them time and money.

Relevant Accreditation/Quality Standards

  • All audits were VEDN compliant and completed to United Energy standards.
